My opinion

The opening of the movie is so strong that it sets the base for the tweaked Agneepath to run for almost three hours.

It ran to packed theaters, made me understand interest in the people but I doubt if they will return with satisfied feeling especially since this a remake of 1990 flop ”Agneepath”, although over decades it acquired a cult classic status. Before the movie started there was special note from Producer Karan Johar stating that he decided to remake the movie since it did not receive deserving response when released back in 1990 produced by his father Yash Johar although as decades passed it is now regarded as one of the finest movies of hindi cinema.

This very disclosure from Karan Johar made me feel as if Karan Johar was real life Vijay Dinanath Chauhan who wanted to reclaim what his father lost back then. (of course, his story is not that melodramatic!)

Hrithik Roshan, needless to say is a fine actor that gave his cent per cent. I should say he has been successful to a large extent portraying the iconic character “Vijay Dinanath Chauhan”. I don’t want to be mean but personally he was not even a mile close to charisma that Amitabh Bacchan bought to the iconic character. You can’t have Hrithik Roshan play Mehmood and convince me that he tried hard, c’mon! But yes, let’s say there wasn’t 1990 Agneepath and hence nothing for me to look up to…then I would say Hrithik was Fantastic.

Sanjay Dutt, an average actor but a solid personality brings the grey character of Kancha Cheena to life again but with an edge that scares you and gives you apt example of evil. Theaters went berserk at his introduction; I guess that’s what every actor craves for. Despite the story and camera concentrating on Hrithik Roshan for most part Sanjay Dutt’s presence just at the start and climax is enough to overshadow him. Priyanka chopra’s  job in the movie was to be an eye candy for the audience and role model for young girls on how to get perfect body and vary your boob size according to need. It does not mean that she did not do a good, she was brilliant for whatever screen space that was given to her. The child playing Hrithik was fab to watch; sometimes I wonder lately I have been seeing a lot of children doing better jobs than so called superstars of India. He was awesome.

You will be shocked to see Rishi kapoor’s avatar for the fact that we have been used to see him as a good and charming personality. He does gives few speechless performance in the movie and really defines how to get into a character without compromising on the acting skills…hats off, a fine actor that really helped the movie because the award winning stereotyped character of Nariyal Paaniwaala played by Mithoon was chopped off.

The location at which Mandwa has been shot brings life in the movie. Action in the movie was as expected. You might want to look around the theatre while the movie gets slow and loses grip on storytelling. I guess that’s when Chikni Chameli need was felt. She has already created a rage in nation that my opinion wouldn’t matter…lol! Yeah she is every guy’s fantasy!

“Aam janta” in the movie is shown as c**t which is a fact in real life as well, they rejected this Classic when it released but later started realizing its cult potential. As far as I know there are 2 cult movies in hindi cinema one being "Dil Chata Hai" after which youth started flooding in Goa to strengthen friendship and "Agneepath" after which everyone started “Haaiinn”

The last movie revolving around revenge theme that made an impact was “Ghajini”. It was equally brutal but with better entertainment quotient, story and new theme in Bollywood but, that’s Aamir khan.

To sum it up, I would say it's a must watch only if you want to or else get the classic DVD and enjoy the real deal!

Few Cool movies in Bollywood, 2011

These movies are not necessarily my favorites in the order that they appear but were undoubtedly only good movies released last year featuring on my list in random order.

16. 404 Error Not Found:

There must be very few people who might have watched or even heard of this movie. This movie is a thriller and it truly lives up to its genre. I honestly do not remember a movie so crisp in this genre in Bollywood. Worth an attempt.
Spoiler: The climax is electrifying.

15. Force

I watched it and came out thinking, this got to be the most chilling negative character played by a person in recent times.
I am talking about Vidyut Jamwal. He was brutal, swift and villainous in the movie.
This guy is hunk. I spotted him once at Lokhandwala and was awestruck by his appearance.
He gave John Abraham a run for his charisma on screen. Worth a watch, better than Bodygaurd anytime.
Spoiler: Incidents in the movie mildly rape humanitarian sentiments.

14. Shaitan
A nice, in fact a very nice movie on hit and run cases witnessed in metro cities. Woven with obvious repercussions predicted by a sane person this can get difficult when you will be accused of such a thing. Cool music and Kalki was charm to watch (girl can act, seriously)

13. Damadamm!

I hate him, I really do for the way he sings and acts in his movie but this one was not as bad as I thought. In fact, I think a lot of people refrained from watching this movie because of the way Himesh name has been etched in our mind. It is a cool change from watching a brainless movie.

12. The Dirty Picture

Okay, a lot of you guys must be raving about how nicely this movie was made, great acting by Vidya and amazing (cheap) dialogues so on and so forth. Honestly, the movie was strictly okay.
Did you think kareena, Katrina, Kajol, Rani, Preity, Aishwarya, Deepika or Sonam would have essayed this role? Vidya was born to do this movie! She didn't have to act in this movie because it came out naturally! The reason this movie features in my list of cool movies is not at all because of Vidya but because of the dialogue writer, Director and Ekta Kapoor whose team has been feeding audience point two percent of sex and sleaze in their movies. Somehow few women are celebrating this movie as tribute to womanhood and supporting, admiring the fact that a women lives on her terms in this male dominated society in the movie! whatever lol. I guess they missed the climax. Overall the movie was good.
Spoiler: You constantly have view of Vidya's cleavage throughout the movie (kya zamaana aa gaya hai!)

11. Desi Boyz

One thing that I have lately noticed about Akshay Kumar is that, he has started to choose roles where he underplays himself despite he being one of the top and highest paying actors in the industry. Houseful, Patiala House, De Dana dan and Desi Boyz are few examples.
The story was fine and made sense may be because, I as an audience could relate to the situation of recession.
Wasn't the greatest movie last year but a good change after suffering all the dickhead movies released the entire year.
Spoiler: Chitrangada singh does not strip :(

10. Challo Dilli

Trip that turns comic with effortless acting from Vinay pathak was a treat. Actually I watched the movie multiple time(Courtesy: my wife, she likes this movie a lot). No complex story, no irritating trailers or false promises by the team just a honest comic movie.

9. Ladies vs Ricky Bahl

I did not watch this movie when it was released because I assumed that Anushka sharma might have overshadowed Ranveer Singh by conning him in the climax which would nullify the whole movie of promoting Ranveer Singh as the Con man. I don't know why I got this feeling or assumed it that way may be because this is what she did in Band Baaja Barat and made Ranveer Singh look like amateur boy. But the movie surprised me when things turned out otherwise. A cool movie that will surely catapult Ranveer Singh's career. Over all a nice movie, in fact a good movie.
Spoiler: Ladies couldn't win!

8. Chillar Party

This has to be on top of list. This was pure entertainer. I loved this movie, it rocked!
Thank you Salman Khan for producing this movie. Ranbir Kapoor did fantastic job in the song, I think that song has to be on top of the charts for last year. A must watch with anyone and everyone.
Spoiler: Bidu!

7. Singham
A solid movie that made people whistle on dialogues in the movie, am sure you know which one i am talking about if not then you better watch the movie (you loser, can watch Ra.One and Bodygard and not this!)
I think 40% credit goes to Prakash Raj, 30% to Ajay and 30% to Rohit Shetty for the fact that this movie turned out to be wonderful (a story with basic's right, not like Ready, Ra.One etc.) entertainer. Must Watch

6. Bheja Fry 2
I laughed so hard, I fell from the chair couple of times. Vinay Pathak rocked as Bharat Bhushan.
A must watch (not for people who liked Tsumani or what ever in Bodygard, ROFL!)

5. Delhi Belly

Initially I, yes myself criticized the movie for the fact that the movie solely depended on all sorts of profanity to woo audience and promote itself but, as the year passed by I had no choice but to look up to the movie.
In fact when I watched it again, I kind of liked it. Some ass hole critics compared it to American Pie series making me run away from it, but good I watched it again and it rocked. I think it aptly portrayed the current society at least language wise. The tag line “Shit Happens” I agree it does and then we have no choice but to run ... that reminds me of that wonderful song, song of our generation.
Must watch it you M****r F****r (excuse the language, got carried away with the movie, lol!)

4. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Few claimed that this movie was rip off from some Hollywood movie, crap. Of course, not everything is original today but who cares? Kaante was a rip off from Reservoir Dogs but kaante was fuckin awesome, infact better than Reservoir Dogs!
Likewise for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the movie was cool, DCH like comedy and relaxing theme that gave me a break from all the ridiculous movies that released last year.

3. Dum Maaro dum

A sharp Thriller. Nice work from Jr. Bacchan. Taking on thugs in Goa, unarguably the drug capital of India was nice. The only stuff that I disliked in the movie was the title song picturized on Deepika was ahh! What ever coz I heard a lot of guys saying that she looked hot and this was one of the hottest songs picturized ever! Honestly, listening to that song felt like some bitch was shouting in my ears and that skinny girl (good for only one thing, guess it yourself) Deepika looked ..puke
Apart from that the movie is a must watch, I wonder why these dumb producers couldn't market this movie but can market the remake of Italian Job aka “Players!” (of course they vanished after the movie flopped)

2. Shor in the city

This movie was cool. Just got to watch it.
I know you might be thinking – are you serious, watch a Tushar Kapoor starer movie?
Yes, watch it
Spoiler: Climax is jaw dropping!

1. Rockstar

Now, The day this movie was announced I knew it will rock!
I told everyone that Ranbir kapoor will bag his National or Filmfare award for this role. It hasn't been announced yet so you can wait and watch.
Imitaz Ali chose to tell his story in un-chronological order of events. Songs were brilliant. Great story. This movie can be used as guide for upcoming directors. Yeah, certain segment of masses wouldn't have understood the feeling that the movie carried, so let them enjoy stereotyped repetitive superstars so called mega entertaining movies that cross 50 million mark with in a week. (everyone has different taste! So what if it is shitty one lol! Now, that's my opinion.)
For example people who have watched Amelie, they know what feeling I am talking about. Must watch if you are/were in search of the quality movie with top notch direction, acting and story this year.
According to me, undoubtedly last year's the best picture, Feature film (not product, best product was Ra.One or Bodyguard)
Spoiler: It is actually based on a true story.

Thank you for your time and do comment :) for me to understand that you read it and liked or disliked it
